7 Wonders of Transylvania

“We are in Transylvania, and Transylvania is not England. Our ways are not your ways, and there shall be to you many strange things. Nay, from what you have told me of your experiences already, you know something of what strange things there may be. “Bram Stoker

Wonders of Transylvania

The “7 Wonders of Transylvania”  project is a joint initiative between Transindex and goTransylvania, during which in May 2017, our first campaign offered a platform for choosing these 7 Wonders of this region, gathering more than 20.000 votes. But the focus wasn't on the 7 final selections but on the promotion and pesentation of all the candidates. Our goal isn't creating a competition, but presenting values without having any interest in the final outcome. Obviously, Transylvania doesn't simply have 7, nor only 34 “wonders”. Our list of recommendations, given by experts, professional organizations and voters, has the primary role of being thought-provoking while being in a constant state of expandation. Read it, suggest more miracles, share your favorites. Let's build together the image of Transylvania this way making this region as visible as possible!

We consider showing the values and attractions of Transylvania an important matter, as well as encouraging the community living or traveling here to pay attention to these values. That is why we have created our rating system by which the traveler or the people inhabiting these places may indicate the condition of the miracle in question. At the same time, we asked three extremely important professional organizations to validate this evaluation system with their names. Don't simply admire, take part in protecting the wonders of Transylvania.

WWF is one of the world's largest and most respected independent conservation organizations, with over 5 million supporters and a global network active in over 100 countries.

Kallós Zoltán Alapítvány

Founded in 1992 by Zoltán Kallós ethnographer. According to its purpose, it carries out its activities in educational, social and cultural fields. He cares for Zoltán Kallós's ethnographic collection, organizes summer handicraft, etc.

Transylvania Trust

The Transylvania Trust’s main goal, the sustainable protection of the built heritage is achieved in the long term through integrated conservation projects. However, the Trust is helping wherever there is a desperate need in built heritage conservation.

We reached out to experts and professional organizations to get assistance with the task of compilling our list, meaning that the final list is an amalgam of their and the voter’s choices, and is constantly expanding. If there is a miracle you would like to see here, but is currently not added, please don’t hesitate in giving suggestions. Thank you for your attention and trust!
